Kolkata: Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of Calcutta High Court on Friday asked state counsel and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee to inform the court about the details of those from state education minister Bratya Basu’s security personnel who got injured in the clash between SFI students on March 1 in the Jadavpur University campus.
Even though the state counsel had urged for shifting of the next hearing date from March 12 to the next day, Justice Ghosh set the date on March 12 when the state administration has to submit the report on the violence.
According to the court sources, Justice Ghosh once again had expressed his ‘unhappiness’ over the police intelligence on the day of the incident.
Meanwhile, posters written ‘Wanted’ and ‘Criminal’ with a photo of Bratya Basu by SFI were set up across Dum Dum area which is the locality of the state education minister.
The posters also said that if anyone can find ‘Criminal Bratya Basu’ should ‘contact police’.
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay condemning the act stated, “Even we rose from student politics but nowadays the politics which are being played by the students that too against a minister is painful.”
The Left Front minded students also gave an ultimatum to the Jadavpur University administration to call for a general body meeting by Monday or else they have warned of ‘administrative shut down.’
