Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Wednesday had instructed the state administration to submit its report over Jadavpur University incident by March 12.

Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of Calcutta High Court observed that he does not want people coming close to ministers as in the ‘neighboring country’.

Justice Ghosh had asked the state to prepare a comprehensive report on the series of events that took place on the campus that day.

The court also asked if the police intelligence failed on March 1 when state education minister Bratya Basu visited the varsity.

“Did the police inform the minister about the agitation which was going to take place? Coming close to the minister and manhandling him is not welcomed,” said the court sources mentioning Justice Ghosh.

The court sources also mentioned that Justice Ghosh had verbally said in the court that such incidents may spread like an epidemic throughout the state.

Attorney General Kishore Dutta informed the court that one person had been arrested in connection to an untoward incident that happened at the varsity campus on March 1 during the visit of state education minister.

Meanwhile, the Left Front minded students of JU are planning to go for a bigger protest if the Vice Chancellor doesn’t meet them.

On the other hand, after falling sick, the VC Bhaskar Gupta on Wednesday was admitted to the hospital.
