Mumbai : Andhra Pradesh’s Teertha Iska convincingly beat the second seed Sneha Padamata 6-0, 6-4 to stage a major upset on the second day of the MSLTA Dreamzkraft all India women’s open tennis tournament conducted by Khar Gymkhana. Teertha, a student of Delhi University played some fine tennis throughout the match where she dominated right from the start to comfortably enter the second round. In the other matches, the seventh seed Himani Mor beat Tanasha Khandpur 6-2, 6-2 while, Maharashtra’s Mihika Yadav defeated Saumya Vig 6-3, 6-4 and Pareen Shivekar overpowered Sindhu Janagam 6-0, 6-3.
In the doubles encounters, Dakshata Patel and Harshasai Challa overcame Nandini Sharma and Sai Dedeepya 5-7, 7-6, 10-8 in a three set thriller whereas, Varunya Chandrashekhar and Simran Kejriwal easily beat Sindhu Janagam and Tanasha Khandpur 6-2, 6-0 to enter the second round.
