Team ONGC wins the 35th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Inter Unit Cricket Tournament that was played between March 16th and March 20th at PYC Hindu Gymkhana Ground and Poona Club Cricket Ground.
ONGC won by 6 wickets by defeating IOCL. BPCL got the better of HPCL in the third place play-off.
In the final of the tournament hosted by Bharat Petroleum, IOCL won the toss and decided to bat and scored 128 losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Aditya Tare, who also plays for Mumbai Indian in the IPL was the only notable score for IOCL. Aditya finished not out and scored 62 runs from 53 balls. In this innings, Praveen Kumar took 3 wickets by giving just 10 runs and Suhail Sharma took 2 wickets for ONGC.
In the 2nd innings, ONGC chased well and managed to score 130 for 4 wickets in 17.1 overs. Tanmay Srivastava, who have been playing well since Day 1 of the tournament opened the batting line for ONGC and finished not out scoring 68 in 48 balls. Nitesh Rana who scored the second highest for ONGC in this innings, accounted 41 runs from 30 balls. Murtuza Hussain, Abbas Ali, Rajesh Pawar and Amit Dani collected one wicket each for IOCL.
In the third place play-off, BPCL outran HPCL. BPCL won by 10 wickets. In the first innings, HPCL recorded 128 runs at a loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Anup Kumar gained 40 runs in 30 balls and Hardik Tamore gained 36 runs in 36 balls. Anup Revandkar picked up 3 wickets and gave 21 runs and Tushar Deshpande picked 2 wickets and gave 9 runs.
In the second innings, BPCL easily chased the target and arrived at 131 runs without losing any wicket to HPCL in 12.4 overs. The opening duo of batsmen finished not out. Akhil Herwadkar scored a terrific 81 of 43 balls and Bhavin Thakkar scored 45 of 33.
