Crossing the finish line with hands raised is a dream for a cyclist. However, celebrating a win too early can even turn into a nightmare. A video has gone viral on social media where a cyclist who raised his arms too early to celebrate his victory, crashed just before the finish line and watched other riders pass him.
Cyclist crashes just before the finish line
A X user by the name of Baxtiyar Goran uploaded a video of the incident, which happened during a cycling race that took place in Erbil city in the Kurdistan Region. In his fall, the rider dragged another of his competitors, who performed a sun-flip over his bike. The first rider to fall also lost a wheel on his bike. It took both men a long time to get back up, finishing the race on foot.
About the Cycling Race event in Ebril
The cycling event was the final stage of the Iraqi Club Cycling Championships. The competition witnessed more than twenty clubs representing the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the governorates. The race was conducted for for the advanced and under-23) age categories, as well as for youth, juniors, and cubs.
According Iraqi news agency (INA) a statement from Central Cycling Federation said that Al-Saniya Club won the overall individual race for the junior category, over a distance of 45 km, followed by Al-Nidhal Club, while third place went to Erbil Club
