Pakistan ODI skipper Muhammad Rizwan's big shot for a maximum broke fast bowler Naseem Shah when the teams were engaged in an intra-squad practice game ahead of the three-game 50-over series against New Zealand. A video of the same surfaced on social media as Naseem raised his phone to signal his broken phone.
Rizwan, who was batting against a right-arm pacer, played a slog over the on-side, hit it as far as for the ball to reach their camp. With the ball, hitting Naseem's phone, it seemingly had a crack and he hilariously raised it to show the keeper-batter the damage he had caused.
Pakistan are currently trailing the five-match T20I series 2-1
While the ODI series will commence on March 29 at the McLean Park in Napier, the Men in Green are now tasked with winning the T20I rubber. After losing the first two T20Is comprehensively, the tourists managed to pull one back on Friday at the Eden Park in Auckland with a record-breaking run-chase of 205 only in 16 overs with nine wickets to spare.
Hasan Nawaz announced himself on the international stage with a 44-ball 100 in T20Is, breaking Babar Azam's record, with the latter accomplishing it in 49 deliveries. Rizwan, who had captained the Asian Giants to ODI series wins over Australia and South Africa, oversaw a winless Champions Trophy 2025 campaign at home.
Hence, the Men in Green will look for redemption in the upcoming series.
