Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur was disgusted with his team's bowling and fielding performance against Afghanistan in the ongoing Match 22 of the ICC World Cup 2023 on Monday.
Pakistan bowlers leaked runs at will in Chennai after posting 282 for 7 on the board at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The bowling attack had no asnwers to the Afghan opening pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, who got the team off to a flying start with their partnership of 130 runs.
Arthur was so angry at his players that he couldn't bear to watch the bowlers getting smashed all around the park so he chose to storm inside the dressing room instead of watching the live action from the dugout.
This happened in the 11th over when spinner Usama Mir got hit for a boundary by Gurbaz.
Arthur was critical of the match organisers in Ahmedabad earlier this month after the DJ at the Narendra Modi Stadium did not play the song "Dil Dil Pakistan". He even blamed it as one of the reasons behind their defeat against India on October 14.
But he had nothing to complain about at Chepauk as fans came out in large numbers to cheer for the Men in Green. But their performance has been poor so far despite getting all the support they wanted.
Pak struggling against Afghans
Pakistan are making life difficult for themselves after two defeats in their last two ODIs against India and Australia. They have to beat Afghanistan to remain in the race to qualify for the semi-finals.
Afghanistan on the other hand, will move up to sixth from last position if they manage another upset win over Pakistan after the triumph over defending champions England earlier this month.
