Mumbai: India’s speed skater Nikhilesh Tabhane performed exceptionally well by creating a new National record of 25.30secs in 300mts time trial in the recently concluded 16th Asian Championship held at China. Tabhane improved upon his previous record of 25.62secs, and had competed against top level skaters from Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea.
Nikhilesh missed out on wining a bronze in 200mts road time trial by a very slim margin, but created another National record of 16.89secs in the senior men category.
Team India won the 3000mts track relay bronze medal in senior men category, but were stripped off the medal as the officials cited reasons which were unsatisfactory. The relay team had Nikhilesh Tabhane, Vikram Ingale and Akash Aaradhya. Indian officials didn’t do much to defend the team in this case too.
