Mumbai : Shantanu Mane, a wonder boy from Sangli, put up a heart-warming show while scoring a terrific 10-11, 11-9, 11-9 win over Pune’s Ayush Khandekar in the PNB Metlife West Zone junior badminton championships held at Goregaon Sports Club here today. Both the boys fought Hard and it looked like a touch and go affair with fortunes swaying before Shantanu emerged a worthy winner.
In another close encounter, Devansh Lodha squeezed past Pune’s Jasraj Kriplani 7-11, 11-10, 11-9, But Pune’s Aditi Mahajan fought back after losing the first game against Janhvi Khanna to make the last 16 in the girls under-17 singles. 5-11, 11-8, 11-7. In the girls under-15 singles Satara’s Aarya Deshpande and Mumbai’s Janhavi Jagtap were the impressive winners in their way into last 16.
