Team India will need a significant chunk of the morning session to go their way on day three of the first Test against England at the Headingley in Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah, who snared all three wickets to fall on day two without much support, will again be in focus. However, the right-arm speedster has already sent down 13 overs, meaning his workload will come equally under the scanner.
The tourists put on an underwhelming batting performance on day two after starting their day at 359/3. Although Rishabh Pant belted a ton, India slid from 430/3 to 471 all out as Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue took four scalps each. There were also fielding lapses, with Ravindra Jadeja giving a lifeline to Ben Duckett and Yashasvi Jaiswal fluffed a chance off Ollie Pope's bat.
As for England, the majority of the focus will be on Ollie Pope, who made his ninth Test hundred and the hosts will need him to carry on to get closer to India's total. Harry Brook survived after Bumrah had him caught in the final over but the right-arm speedster had overstepped.

Team India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak lamented the batting collapse on day two, claiming that the batters could have done better. Kotak said during the post-day presser, as quoted by The Hindustan Times:
"It was a bit of a collapse, I would say, because batsmen were also there. From 430 for three to 471 all out, batsmen also got out in it, isn’t it? So, it wasn’t only the last five; it was a bit of a collapse. We were expecting better than that, but it can happen."
