The bat MS Dhoni used during the 2011 World Cup final at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai is actually the world’s most expensive bat ever, the Guinness Book records reveals. In the finals of WC 2011 on April 2, 2011, MS Dhoni hit a six off Sri Lanka’s bowler Nuwan Kulasekara when Team India needed 4 runs off 11 balls. The iconic shot helped India to lift World Cup trophy after 28 years.

The bat, which had ‘Reebok’ written on it, was sold at an auction for US dollars 161,295, which is equal to over Rs. 1.1 crore. It was bought by R K Global Shares & Securities Ltd (India) on July 18, 2011 during an auction at M.S Dhoni’s ‘East Meets West’ Charity Dinner, in London.

MS Dhoni was the player of the match in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. He scored an unbeaten 91 off 85 balls after both the openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag were dismissed cheaply in the match. India was chasing 276 for victory when MS played a magnificent innings to lift the World Cup title for India. He hit a spectacular shot for six in the end to lift the trophy for India.
