Mumbai: After familiar names in the school games winning championships, a new name as surfaced in the name of Cathedral. This these kids in the under-10 age group proved when they over came Campion School 2-1 in the Mumbai School Sports
Association’s under-10 football, at the Azad Maidan here on Monday. In a very close encounter, Cathedral boys and Campions gave every little away, and this saw them share honours at the end regular time.
However, it was not to be during the shoot-out that followed as Cathedral proved better convertors to emerge champions in this level of championship. Niall Gogavala and Krishiv Mago were bang on target for the winners, while only Sumer Singh could find the target from the dreaded spot.
It was a repeat of what had happened just a few minutes ago when the teams assembled to fight it out for the third and fourth position and it was Cathedral and John Connon boys who proved better as they over came St Mary’s 4-2.
After the teams failed to break the deadlock in the regular time, in the enforcing tie-breaker, Ruahaan Dhaul, Aks Kapoor, Aahil Mecklai and Ranveer Bakshi came good for Cathedral while, Sean Nodywala and Darhann D’Souza were successful for St Mary’s.
