Bastian Schweinsteiger slapped with three-match ban by FA

Johannesburg : Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been handed a three-match ban by the Football Association after being found guilty of violent conduct against West Ham United’s Winston Reid during their last Premier League clash.

The German captain was caught elbowing Reid as they jostled for position in the build-up to a first-half free-kick during their 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The FA stated that Schweinsteiger would serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he accepted an FA charge for violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, Sport24 reported.

As a result of the ban, the German will miss the upcoming Premier League games against Bournemouth, Norwich City and Stoke City.
