Mumbai: Air India regained the Elite Division title after they played out a tame goalless draw with defending champions Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in the concluding ‘Super Six’ play-off match, of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League, played at the Cooperage ground, here, on Monday evening.

The point earned from this win ensured Air India finish in pole position with 13 points, from four wins and a draw. ONGC, who required a win at all cost, were placed second with 11 points from three wins and two draws. Western Railway, who started with impressive victories in their opening two games, but later went off track clinched the third position with nine points.

Air India were richer by Rs 1 lakh, while ONGC got Rs 50,000 and Western Railway Rs 25,000. The triumphant Air India players along with coach Godfred Pereira (extreme left) and support staff celebrate with the Elite Division title at the Cooperage ground on Monday.
