Kuala Lumpur: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) secretary general Alex Soosay has tendered his resignation with immediate effect on Wednesday. Soosay was suspended on May 13 by the AFC following allegations that he attempted to tamper or hide documents during a corruption probe in 2012. Reports emerged recently that Soosay had attempted to “tamper or hide” documents during the 2012 internal audit which was triggered by claims of corrupt practices by the then president Mohamad Hammam, who was later banned for life by FIFA for corruption. —IANS
