The jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has increased after the merger of 34 nearby villages. Keeping this in mind, Parvati MLA Madhuri Misal, who is also the Minister of State for Urban Development, has directed the PMC officials to submit a proposal to wave penalties on outstanding property taxes. She also asked them to propose the merger of Pune Cantonment area into PMC limits.

A meeting was organised in the ministry to discuss various issues of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). During the meeting, senior officials were present including Principal Secretary of Urban Development Aseem Kumar Gupta, PMRDA CEO Yogesh Mhase, PMC Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale and others.

During the meeting, Misal expressed, "Due to a delay in paying property tax, the penalty amount increases, which puts a burden on the owners. Also, a proposal should be made to merge the Pune Cantonment area into PMC limit, which would lead to more development in the area."

During the discussion, Misal highlighted that approximately 168 employees working in the health department of PMC on a contract basis should be made permanent.

"Suspension on the recruitment of sanitation workers should be removed. A tree census should be conducted to know the number of trees in Pune city. PMC and PMRDA should change the online payment system so that 50% of the construction fee could be received by the time of granting construction permission," she directed.

"Additionally, a committee should be formed to review hilltop land reservations to ensure no injustice is done to the residents and they are given a permanent housing solution. A good plan needs to be implemented to eradicate the slums near Parvati Hill," she concluded.
