A newborn baby girl was found wrapped in a plastic gunny bag and dumped in a pile of garbage near the Shiv temple in Barve Village on Sunday afternoon. The infant is believed to be around one to two days old.

The baby was discovered by a passerby who heard her crying while walking through the area. The person immediately alerted the Khadakpada Police Station.

Following the alert, police contacted Rukhmini Bai Hospital. Dr. Samir Sarvankar from the hospital said, “We received information from the police that a newborn baby had been found in the garbage. An ambulance was dispatched to the location, and the baby was brought to the hospital for treatment. She weighs around 2 kilograms and is estimated to be about one or two days old. Her condition is stable. She has been referred to Vasant Valley Hospital for further care.”

Assistant Police Inspector Maruti Andhale from Khadakpada Police Station said, “We have registered an offence against unknown persons, and investigations are underway. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined. Preliminary findings suggest the baby was dumped around midnight.
