Thane: The water level at Barvi Dam which supplies water to the Thane district has increased by 13.64 percent in the last 11 days due to satisfactory rainfall. As a result, Barvi's water supply has reached 45 percent.

Barvi Dam on July 1, 2022, had 106 million cubic meters of water but on July 11, 2022, the dam reached 152 million cubic meters of water. Therefore, if the rains continue like this, the dam is expected to fill to full capacity this month.

Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation administration has informed, "This year marks the second-lowest rainfall in ten years due to very less rainfall in the month of June. This had a direct impact on the water resources supplying water to the district. Due to unsatisfactory rainfall in June, the water level in Barvi Dam had come down to 30 per cent. So there was a long wait for rain. The rains started at the end of June. On July 1, the Barvi Dam had a storage capacity of only 106.64 million cubic meters. However, in the last eleven days of July, the rainfall has been satisfactory. As a result, there is satisfactory water storage in Barvi Dam."

MIDC administration further said, "As of July 11, 152.85 million cubic meters of water has been recorded in Barvi dam. This stock is 45.11% of the total capacity of Barvi Dam. The water level of the dam has reached 63.88 meters. Also, this year's water supply is satisfactory as compared to last year. However, water management is impossible without Barvi Dam getting fully filled. Therefore, if it rains in the same manner in the coming months, Barvi dam will be able to fill to full capacity."
