Thane: 5-year-old boy dies after falling from balcony from 21st floor

A 15-year-old boy sitting on the balcony of his 21st floor flat in Thane high rise fell down and died after he lost his balance. The Vartak Nagar police have registered an accidental death report and claim no foul play in the incident.

The police said the incident took place at Vasant lawns and high rise at Majiwada in Thane. The deceased boy, Ishant Shinde, a standard 10th student, used to usually sit in the balcony of his flat. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm. "While, the deceased mother was in the bedroom of the flat. He was sitting on the open balcony and may have lost balance to fall on the ground. He was shifted to hospital and was declared dead on the spot due to serious injuries," said a police officer.

The police during investigation found no witness to the incident. "Also, the deceased mother came to know about the incident after society members and watchmen who noticed him lying with a pool of blood reached his residence. So far there is nothing suspicious that has been found. Parents are shocked and therefore could not question them," added the officer.
