Cabinet approves rise of Rs 5000 per month in stipend

Mumbai : The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved a rise of Rs 5,000 per month in stipend given to the resident doctors.

“The rise will benefit 2,721 resident doctors and would be applicable with retrospective effect from August 2015. The decision would cost the government Rs 16.22 crore,” Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis twitted after the cabinet meet.

The stipend for resident doctors of government hospitals is revised every three years. It had been revised and raised in 2009 and 2012. It was due for a revision. However, the rise given on Tuesday is more than those given earlier. The first year post graduate doctors are now expected to get around Rs 47,225 as stipend, a senior CMO official said.

The cabinet also approved implementation of the Centre’s Shyama Prasad Mukherji RURBAN Mission, which is modelled on the best practices of PURA (providing urban amenities in rural areas) scheme and also decided to implement Decentralised Procurement Scheme for paddy in the entire state.

Implementation of Shyama Prasad Mukherji RURBAN Mission will help transform rural areas to economically, socially and physically sustainable spaces and overall development in the region. These clusters would be developed by provisioning of economic activities, developing skills and local entrepreneurship and providing infrastructure amenities. The Rurban Mission will thus develop a cluster of Smart Villages, Chief Minister said after the cabinet meet.

Village groups in 99 tehsils of 28 districts in Maharashtra will be selected for implementation of the Mission, an official told FPJ.

The Mission will deal with issues like agricultural development, skill development, agro processing, storage and mobile health units, liquid waste management, he added.

The government has also decided to implement the Decentralised Procurement Scheme for paddy from the 2016-17 rabi and kharif season.
