MUMBAI: Sixteen goats were electrocuted to death on Friday evening at the Deonar slaughterhouse.
Police said the initial investigation show that a live wire hanging in the shed caused the electrocution.
“Due to heavy rains, there was a short circuit in a part of the slaughterhouse. The animals were kept in a metal shed where a live wire was hanging. It charged the metal mesh and the animals inside couldn’t escape, leading to their death,” said a senior police officer at Deonar police station.
The police are investigating the incident and are yet to register an offence.
