Pune: On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, the Maharashtrian new year, celebrated on Saturday, an offering of a gold shawl worth Rs 3 lakh was made to Dagdusheth Ganpati in Pune. This intricately woven shawl from Gadgil Jewellers, was six months in the making. Interwoven with delicate gold thread, there is a beautiful pattern on the ends of the shawl.
The deity was already decorated with gold ornaments, the traditional sovla and a crown, only lacking a wrap around the shoulders. But a devout worshipper has taken care of this issue with this offering. With this gift, the Dagdusheth Ganpati now owns 100 kilograms in gold jewellery. The gold shawl was draped around the deity on Saturday after a traditional pooja.
