Mumbai: According to a recent report published by UNSC experts related to a cyberattack on Pune-based Cosmos Bank in August last year, they have alleged the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was behind the attack.
The report examined and analysed deatils about the implementation of the UN sanctions on the North for its nuke programme, focussing incidents of non-compliance.
“The Panel notes a trend in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s evasion of financial sanctions of using cyber attacks to illegally force the transfer of funds from financial institutions and cryptocurrency exchanges,” it reads. The Pune police seized Rs8 lakh from people who withdrew money from ATMs and has nabbed 12 persons—money mule- from various cities.
