Mumbai: A day after a three-hour-long meeting between political strategist Prashant Kishor and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, the NCP on Saturday has clarified that the party has neither given Kishor any responsibility nor has been roped in to chalk out election strategy for the next Lok Sabha or assembly elections.

NCP chief spokesman and Minority Affair Minister Nawab Malik said, ‘’Prashant Kishor is a political strategist and he has experience in this field. Kishor has shared his experience and discussed the present political situation in the country.’’

However, Malik said, ‘’There was no talk on appointing him as a strategist of NCP. Pawar wants to unite opposition parties. Efforts will be made for the same.’’ He noted that Pawar was to visit West Bengal and campaign in support of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee but he could not do so due to his ill health.

‘’Pawar will bring together opposition parties at the country level. NCP is keen to build up a strong alternative against BJP and the party will make efforts in that regard,’’ said Malik.

The meeting between Pawar and Kishor had set the political speculations. Kishor shared his experience in West Bengal and how Trinamool Congress could take on BJP and win for the third time in succession. Kishor has already announced that he would quit as a political strategist and leave I-PAC.
