With a drop in active cases, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to stop admitting patients to eight COVID Care Centres . The civic body now is sending most of the new COVID patients to the Vashi exhibition centre.
The last two weeks, observed a sharp drop in active cases in the city and at present, there are 1418 cases out of which, 343 patients are in home isolation and the remaining are in six COVID care centres. The Vashi exhibition centre has a maximum of 394 patients being treated.
“The centre has 1200 beds facilities and new patients are being admitted at this centre,” said a senior civic official from the civic Health Department. For the last week, the number of daily COVID cases in the city has around 100.
The COVID Care Centre's which have no patients are Sector 14 in Vashi centre, sector 3 Belapur centre, Agri Koli Bhawan in Nerul, ETC Centre in Vashi, Multipurpose Hall in Koparkhairane, Leva Patidar Centre, Export House and Radha Swami satsan centre in Turbhe.
At present, the number of active cases is at a three months low. The recovery rate has improved and has reached 96%.
The city witnessed a sharp rise in COVID 19 cases in the second wave as a maximum of 1441 cases were reported in a single day during April. The first wave, saw the highest single day rise on August 20 when 477 positive cases were reported.
So far, the civic body has already conducted 1037856 COVID 19 tests in the city 4,91,194 were Rt-PCR tests and 5,46,662 tested were Rapid Antigen. A total of 98,383 people tested positive for COVID 19 and 95,337 have recovered from it. However,1628 people died of the infection.
