As part of its ongoing ‘Adopt Cleanliness – Drive Away Illness’ campaign, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) undertook an extensive cleanliness drive across all eight of its administrative divisions, focusing on railway station premises, public grounds, and open spaces.

Across key locations including Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, Airoli, and Digha, the civic body carried out intensive sanitation operations aimed at improving hygiene standards and raising public awareness about responsible waste management.

In Belapur, the popular recreational site Jewel of Navi Mumbai was cleaned thoroughly. The Nerul railway station's western premises also underwent a detailed clean-up drive, with active involvement from local residents and sanitation teams.

Sector 30A in Vashi saw cleaning activities around the railway station, while in Sector 15, awareness campaigns were held at the vegetable market to educate vendors and customers on banning plastic bags, waste segregation, and proper disposal practices.

At the APMC Market in Turbhe, an anti-plastic drive was conducted, leading to penalties imposed on vendors for violating plastic ban norms. In Koparkhairane, an open plot near Tarun Sadan used by children as a playground was cleared of debris and overgrown grass, making the space safer and more usable.

In Ghansoli, sanitation work focused on a school and adjacent playground in Sector 9, with enthusiastic participation from the local community. Airoli’s railway station area in Sector 3 was also part of the campaign, where travelers and rickshaw drivers were sensitized on the importance of cleanliness.

In Digha, various public spaces were thoroughly cleaned as part of the citywide effort.

The NMMC’s campaign emphasized the importance of cleanliness in preventing disease, reducing plastic use, and encouraging citizens to take ownership of public hygiene. Through sustained efforts and active community participation, the civic body aims to maintain Navi Mumbai as a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible city.
