Suburban commuters traveling from Churchgate to Virar stations can now access emergency video consultations with trained medical personnel. Western Railway has introduced the Namaste Health App, a cutting-edge platform that offers instant video tele-consultations with nearby doctors and hospitals during health emergencies. This innovative app connects commuters with medical professionals, ensuring timely assistance in critical situations.

"The app aims to address health emergencies 360 degrees, utilizing the golden hour to provide critical care to the needy commuters during emergency. After a successful trail at Malad Station, the app was launched at Churchgate Station on December 16, 2024, by Ashok Mishra, general manager of WR" said an official.

According to WR, the app leverages instant video tele consultations to connect patients in distress with nearby doctors and hospitals, ensuring timely medical advice during emergencies. It also provides lifesaving guidance on administering CPR, stopping bleeding, and handling unconscious patients or seizures. This virtual-first approach enables rapid response, often faster than physical medical assistance. Additional features include access to ambulances, blood banks, second opinions, and emergency diagnostics.

"During a one-and-a-half-month trial at Malad station, the technical capabilities and user acceptability of the app were tested, yielding satisfactory results. Recognizing its potential, Western Railway subsequently expanded the service across all stations between Churchgate and Virar" said an official.

"Health emergencies during peak commuting hours often lead to anxiety and confusion, with precious minutes lost in navigating care options. By providing immediate virtual medical support, the Namaste Health app aims to ensure treatment during the critical golden hour, offering immense relief to daily passengers" further added official.
