Mumbai: Students appearing for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) starting from Thursday will not be allowed to take toilet breaks during the examination. As it is the first year where the test will be entirely computer based students will not be allowed to take toilet breaks unless it is an emergency case. CET is an entrance examination for engineering course wherein students can secure admissions based on the marks scored.
Till now, the test was conducted physically where students would answer multiple choice questions (MCQs) on an answer paper like any regular examination. But since this year, the test has been shifted to completely computer based where students cannot take a break once they login and start the questionnaire on their computers at examination centres.
In addition, no extra rough paper will be provided for students to solve problems or scribble calculations. A senior officer managing CET, said, “We have added new rules and regulations for this year. Students need to realise this test is based on competency, skill and efficiency.
Time is a key factory to decide marks and their performance.” Over 4.13 lakh students will appear for MHT-CET. The test will be held in two time slots daily, between May 2 and 13, except on May 4 and 5. Students can select a day and slot for the test according to their convenience.
