Mumbai Police Arrest 17 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants

In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, Mumbai Police have arrested 17 Bangladeshi nationals from the Govandi and Chembur areas. Authorities confirmed that these individuals had entered India unlawfully and were residing in the city without proper documentation.

On March 24, the Shivaji Nagar police, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid and arrested eight illegal immigrants. The following day, March 25, the RCF police detained four men and five women in a separate operation. Preliminary investigations verified their Bangladeshi origin, and police also confiscated several fake documents. A case has been registered, and further legal action is underway.

Continued Crackdown on Illegal Immigration

Officials stated that the arrests were part of a broader effort to track down illegal immigrants in Mumbai. Based on intelligence inputs, targeted search operations were carried out in specific areas. The crackdown follows a similar incident on March 13, when two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from Jogeshwari. They had been living illegally in Mumbai for the past two years.

The police have intensified their efforts to identify and detain unauthorized foreign nationals in the city, ensuring strict action against illegal immigration networks.
