Six people have been booked for allegedly assaulting personnel inside the Santacruz police station. The main accused has been identified as Ashish Sharma, while the others are said to be his accomplices.

Mumbai: Six people have been booked for allegedly assaulting personnel inside the Santacruz police station. The main accused has been identified as Ashish Sharma, while the others are said to be his accomplices.

According to the FIR, on May 1, police sub-inspector (PSI) Sainath Pantamwad heard loud noises, so he stepped out of his cabin to check. He saw the accused group abusing and assaulting Rizwan Shaikh, 26, an auto driver.

The PSI, assistant police inspector Bhushan More, and constables Ganesh Hansale and Pravin Survase tried to stop the accused. However, they allegedly pushed the personnel, leaving the PSI, More and Survase injured.

The assailants were finally pinned down, said the police, adding that Shaikh had come to lodge a complaint against one Naresh Patil. According to Shaikh, Patil had thrashed him over a parking issue. Sharma and Patil know each other.
