Mumbai: Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Director Mangesh Eknath Sangle has been booked for outraging the modesty of a woman by Rabale police on Saturday evening. A 19-year-old woman accused Sangle of calling her at an Airoli-based building and touching her inappropriately. Although a case has been registered against Sangle, no police action has been initiated against him.
Sangle, who is the former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and the current MHADA director, is a resident of Sector 8 in Airoli. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Sangle, where he was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman (section 354).
However, the complainant has alleged that the police is helping Sangle by not arresting him, so that he can avail the anticipatory bail from the local magistrate court on Monday. Meanwhile, police are investigating the matter and are verifying the allegations levelled by the complainant.
