Mumbai, July 14: A 22-year-old man was arrested for stealing a high end bicycle valued over ₹2 lakh from Bandra (W). The accused, identified as Sanket Jhiman, was spotted at Carter Road and was apprehended from there. He was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for theft and produced before a local magistrate court. He was remanded in police custody.
According to Bandra police sources, a cycle valued at ₹2.05 lakh was reported stolen from the complainant's parking space and an investigation was launched. During the probe, police learnt that the accused, Sanket Jhiman was involved and a search was initiated for him.
Police then received a tip-off that the accused was coming near Arts Club at Carter Road in Bandra West, following which a trap was laid and he was apprehended. Police said that Jhiman also confessed to a few other cycle thefts in the surrounding areas, which is being probed.
He was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for theft and was produced in a local magistrate court, where he was remanded in police custody.
