Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) responsible for the operations and maintenance (O&M) of Metro-1 (Ghatkopar-Versova) will increase the monthly pass trip by Rs 25 to Rs 50 for 45 trips from February 1, 2019 said MMOPL on Wednesday. With the base fare of Rs 10, 20, 30 and 40 for single journey token remains to be unchanged, the price of monthly trip pass (MTP) has been marginally increased by Rs 25 to Rs 50 for 45 trips, which effectively translates to a marginal increase from 55 paise to Rs 1.11 per trip. Despite this increase, MTP will still remain to be most economical product offering 14 percent to 24 per cent incentive, claimed MMOPL. That means, metro commuters who were earlier paying Rs 750, Rs 1,050 and Rs 1,350 for traveling 2-5 kms, 5-8 kms and over 8 kms respectively, will now have to pay Rs 775, Rs 1,150 and Rs 1,375 for the same from February 1 onwards.

Apart from increasing the MTP, the MMOPL to give instant cash back offers to smart card users on recharge of Rs 200 and above. The offer is to make stored value pass (SVP) even more popular and encourage commuters to recharge with higher value. Commuters will get cash back ranging from two to ten percent for recharge ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 600 and above. The new cashback on SVP is aimed at encouraging regular commuters to migrate from daily queuing at ticketing counters as the use of card takes 40 per cent lesser time to pass through the Automatic Fare Collection gates.
