On Tuesday, a 37-year-old woman committed suicide and also killed her two children in Parel’s BEST colony.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the incident took place on Tuesday around 11 am. The deceased was identified as Revati Kamerkar (37). The Bhoiwada Police have said that that the deceased woman’s husband, BEST employee Sandeep Kamerkar, had routinely left for work at 8 am. A couple of hours later when Sandeep called Revati for some work, she did not respond. Later, Sandeep again called her few more times, but she did not respond, after which he called a neighbour to check on his family. The neighbour called him back, saying there was no response from Revati despite repeatedly knocking on the door of their house.
Sandeep rushed home around 11.30 am, and with the help of a few neighbours, he broke down the front door. He found his wife hanging and the children unconscious. The neighbours informed the police about the incident, who later took the three to the hospital where they were declared brought dead.
The cops have found three letters written by the deceased, which were addressed to the woman’s husband, brother and the police. A police officer told the leading daily, “Revati’s husband has confirmed that the three letters were written by her. The letters say that she was frustrated as she suffered from migraine. She said she was scared that both her children, being developmentally challenged, would not have much of a future, especially without her being around and therefore she was killing them as well.”
The cops have registered an accidental death case and are currently investigating the matter.
