Mumbai: 21-Year-Old Shoots Self To Death With Father’s Service Revolver

The tragedy took place within the jurisdiction of the N.M. Joshi Marg Police Station. Santosh Mhaske is attached to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and was deployed for the security of a senior political leader.

A 20-year-old man, the son of a policeman, allegedly died by suicide by shooting self with father's service revolver in Prabhadevi on Friday afternoon.

According to the N M Joshi Marg police, the incident occurred between 12 and 12.30pm when Harsh Mhaske allegedly took the weapon to the bathroom and shot himself in the head. Upon receiving the information, the cops arrived at the scene and rushed Mhaske to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead before admission.

His father, Santosh, is deployed with the special protection unit for the security of a senior political leader. The family resides at Century Mill , MHADA Colony, Prabhadevi. Since Santosh was out of town for work, he had left his service revolver at home, said the officials.

The police have registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for post-mortem. No suicide note was found at the scene and the exact reason behind Harsh’s extreme step remains unclear.

The cops have begun questioning the Mhaske family, relatives and the deceased's friends.
