Mumbai: The Vile Parle police has arrested a 20-year-old mute man for allegedly outraging the modesty of a schoolgirl. The accused, a resident of Vile Parle East, was arrested on Tuesday after the victim girl narrated the incident to her mother. Police said the accused is unemployed and stays in the same locality.
The victim is Std V student. She has alleged for the last few years, the accused had been trying to communicate with her using sign language and would touch her in a friendly manner. “Whenever she used to go to school or come home, the accused would be present on the way and would try to indulge in a conversation which lasted for few minutes. The girl thought he too was mute, so ignored his excesses.
When the accused tried to get close recently, she she was alarmed. Then, the girl narrated what exactly happened to her mother who on Tuesday lodged an official complaint at the police station,” said a cop, requesting anonymity.
