Bahujan Vikas Aghadi continues its claim in Palghar
Palghar : The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) once again made its presence felt when it came to elections in Palghar region by winning the three major constituencies of Vasai, Nalasopara and Boisar. The Vasai and Nalasopara constituencies were won hands down with margins of around 31,896 and 54,499 respectively.
MLA Kshitij Thakur garnered 1,13,566 votes in Nalasopara while his father MLA Hitendra Thakur secured 97,291votes in Vasai. In spite of Vivek Pandit managing the only BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI alliance in Maharashtra along with the Jan Andolan Samiti they still couldn’t stop the BVA from taking lead right from the first round of counting.
The BJP couldn’t gain in spite of Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducting a mega rally in Palghar.
Another major upset was the loss of heavyweight Rajendra Gavit from Congress to Shiv Sena’s Arjun Ghoda by wafer thin margin of 526 votes from Palghar constituency.
Sources said that the recounting request for Palghar constituency was being considered.
“Karyakarta Zindabad”, is what the newly elected MLA of Vasai Hitendra Thakur said while bestowing the success on party workers.
Vivek Pandit, who lost from Vasai by 31,896 votes to Thakur, said, “I gracefully accept peoples’ verdict and will continue doing my social work.”
Rajan Naik, who lost to sitting MLA Kshitij Thakur from Nalasopara by 54,499 votes, said,” I will work for the betterment of people. There are a lot of things that can be done.”
