Mumbai : A 22-year-old woman was raped between 12:30 and 2:10 am on Wednesday morning in a car parked at Colaba and then molested by a friend of the rape accused. Colaba Police have caught the molestation accused but the rapist is at large. “We have all the details of the rape accused and we will find him very soon,” said Ravindra Shisve, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

According to police, the accused and the victim were familiar with each other. The victim used to give the accused, Dalla Yadav, a missed call almost every night, which was a signal for him to come to meet her. Lately, Yadav started insisting that they should get married, which the victim refused as she is married with two children.

On the night of the incident, the victim did not call Yadav to meet her but went there with his taxi driver friend Raju Valmiki. The victim came down to dispose garbage at around 12:00 midnight that is when Yadav met her and talked her into entering the car. The two of them were alone in the car from 12:30 am to 2:10 am.

At 2:10 am the victim and Yadav emerged from the vehicle and tried to enter the complex where the victim lived, only to be stopped by the security guard of the building. Following this the victim and rape accused went back into the car along with Valmiki. This is when the victim claims that Valmiki tried to molest her.

The rape victim filed a complaint about the two at Colaba police station at 7:00 am, the same morning.

“Even though the victim knew the accused before and she went into the vehicle at her own accord, she filed a rape charge against Yadav and molestation charges against Valmiki. We will take her complaint seriously. The case has gone to court and will be given a fair hearing,” said Shisve.
