Maharashtra requests Tendulkar,  Bachchan to help save tigers

Mumbai: The State governm-ent has written to cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and actor Amitabh Bachchan requesting them to be brand ambassadors for its tiger conservation proj-ect, it was announced here on Monday. Forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar told reporters that he has written to the two icons last week seeking their involvement in the governme-nt’s efforts to save tigers and promote tourism in the tiger sanctuaries. When asked about their remuneration as forest department brand ambassad-ors, Mungantiwar said, “We will not pay them anything. We ex-pect them to be involved with-out monetary considerations. So far, both have not replied to the state’s request,” he said.
