Maharashtra records surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths; recovery rate rises to 95.45%

Maharashtra on Thursday recorded a surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths. The state registered 12,207 fresh cases, taking the number of active cases to 1,60,693. On Wednesday, the state had recorded 10,989 cases. Besides, 393 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the day, taking the number of total fatalities to 1,03,748. The state had registered 261 deaths on Wednesday.

11,449 patients were discharged in the day, taking the tally to 56,08,753. The recovery rate in the state rose to 95.45%. The case fatality rate in the state is 1.77%.

Currently, 10,76,165 people are in home quarantine and 6,384 people are in institutional quarantine.

The Mumbai circle--which consists of MCGM, Thane, TMC, Navi Mumbai, KDMC, Ulhasnagar MC, Bhivandi Nijampur MC, Mira Bhayandar MC, Palghar, Vasai Virar MC, Raigad, Panvel MC--recorded 2058 new cases.

The Nashik circle--which consists of Nashik, Nashik MC, Malegaon MC, Ahmednagar, Ahmednagar MC, Dhule, Dhule MC, Jalgaon, Jalgaon MC, Nandurbar--reported 2486 fresh COVID-19 cases.

The Pune circle--which includes Pune, PMC, PCMC, Solapur, Solapur MC, Satara--recorded 2595 new cases.

The Kolhapur circle reported 3731 new cases, Aurangabad circle 230, Latur circle 369, Akola circle 435, and Nagpur circle recorded 303 new COVID-19 cases.
