Bhiwandi: A powder-loaded truck turned turtle on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, near Ovali phata, Bhiwandi, after the steering wheel got locked on Monday morning. No casualties were reported. According to police, the incident took place at Ovali phata on Monday morning during the peak hours. Traffic was halted for four hours. Motorists informed the fire brigade after which fire and traffic cops reached the spot.
A fire official, “We rushed one fire tender to the spot. After our teams reached the spot and verified the situation, two cranes were called toin remove the truck from the middle of road. There was a traffic jam for four hours. The powder from the overturned vehicle had fallen on the road.”
Police diverted the vehicles to Kharegao, Mumbra bypass and Bhiwandi pipeline road to clear the trafic on the Nashik highway. Sales executive Sushil Chaurasiya, an eyewitness, said, “I left my house at 7am. The minute I reached Ovali Phata,I got stuck for over an hour. Police were called to help divert the traffic to other roads.”
