Thane: A youth who eloped with a minor girl from Uttar Pradesh state was found injured on railway tracks between Kopar and Diva railway stations on June 19. Five days later, he succumbed to injuries at a Mumbai civic hospital. The police said, on June 19, a motorman of a local train found Sahil Hashmi, 19, lying on tracks between Kopar and Diva railway stations. He then informed GRP who took the injured to Sion hospital. "On June 23, he succumbed to his injuries," said Satish Pawar, senior police inspector, GRP, Dombivli.
The police registered an accidental death report. "We found that Sahil eloped with a 16-year-old girl. He saw the brother of the girl in train. Getting scared, he jumped off the train. The girl was taken by his brother to UP, where they registered a kidnapping case. We have asked the girl and her brother to reach the police station," police said.
