Kin of couple killed by dumper to move court

Mumbai : The family members of Shivaji and Swapnali, the couple who died in a fatal accident at Sion highway on Sunday morning, want to go to court against the errant driver. Shivaji who is survived by two brothers and parents want to move the court to seek justice for their son and daughter-in-law.

The driver is in police custody along with the dumper. However, the identification of the dumper is yet to be done. BMC Additional Commissioner Mohan Adtani said, “If the dumper belongs to the BMC, then the driver will be suspended.” Shivaji (29) and Swapnali (27), both worked at Kohinoor Hospital as supervisor and technician respectively. The couple had been married for 10 months and were on their way to attend a marriage when the incident happened.
Nagesh, Shivaji youngest brother said, “On Sunday morning both of them went to Chembur for a relative’s marriage. But at 10.30 am we got a call that informed us about the accident. Shivaji and his wife both died on the spot after the accident.”
“Shivaji was conscious after the accident and handed over a card to a nearby witness who then contacted us. However, he died immediately after giving the card,” added a relative.
