Mumbai : Shiv Sena renewed protests against the Jaitapur Nuclear Power Project (JNPP) on Thursday, while targeting the BJP-led governments at Centre and Maharashtra, of which it is alliance partner.
MPs, MLAs and leaders of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena undertook a march towards the office of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL), however, they were prevented by police from marching there.
Vinayak Raut, Shiv Sena MP from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, said his party was not opposed to the nuclear power but the plant being in Jaitapur. “The project can be shifted to Gujarat,” he said, adding that the Shiv Sena would not allow the plant to come up in the Konkan belt.
