COVID-19: Mumbai reports 961 cases, 27 deaths on June 3

With the addition of 961 new COVID-19 cases on June 3, Mumbai's infection tally rose to 7,08,968. Now, there are 16,612 active cases in the city.

Mumbai reported 27 deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday which pushed its fatality count to 14,938 as per data released by the city's civic body. 897 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged on Thursday taking the recovery count to 6,75,193.

On Thursday, 24,667 tests were conducted, as compared to 37,607 on May 1. May 17 had reported the lowest count rate with just 17,640 tests.

Meanwhile, the doubling rate has increased to 500 days, while the weekly growth rate has dropped to 0.13 per cent.

“As unlocking will be gradual, he wants more people to get at least one shot of the Covid vaccine. Many options are being looked into. Travel of people will continue to be regulated and work from home will continue to be encouraged,” said a senior health official.

Dr Rahul Pandit, state Covid task force member and Director-Critical Care, Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai, said, “the overall situation in the state has improved, however, there are some districts that continue to show red flags. So, the unlocking will have to be done accordingly.”
