Mumbai : A metropolitan court in Andheri on Friday directed the Mumbai police to carry out investigation against actor Akshay Kumar and others for allegedly outraging religious sentiments in his movie Khiladi 786.
Magistrate R K Kshirsagar in an order said, “The nature of the offence requires that instead of passing an order, it would be appropriate to send the matter for inquiry and report it to the concerned police station under section 202 of Criminal Procedure Code.”
One Naseem Bano in her complaint had alleged that a scene in the 2012 movie outrages religious feelings.
Advocate Avinash Kumar Dubey, who appeared for Bano said, “There is a seen in the movie in which the actor stamps on a metallic emblem that has 786 engraved on it. It is because of this that the religious feeling of the complaint has been outraged,”
Along with the actor, the producer and the director of the movie have also been made party to the complaint. The next hearing is scheduled for 11th February 2015.
