Bhayandar: Nearly 24 hours after an 18-year college student drowned in Pelhar Dam near Vasai, Fire Brigade personnel from the local civic body recovered the body on Thursday afternoon.  A resident of Nallasopara, the deceased, identified as-Ankush Ramesh Harode (18), was a student of a junior college in Nallasopara.

Ankush had apparently bunked his lectures and went for a swim at the dam on Wednesday. While his clothes were recovered by local villagers the same day, his body was fished out on Thursday afternoon, police said.  Investigations revealed that family members were not aware that Ankush had gone to the dam and got the information only after the incident occurred.

A case of accidental death has been registered in this connection at the Valiv police station.        (Suresh Golani)
