Mumbai : After series of disruptions leading to delayed train services, punctuality on Central Railway (CR) seems to be on the road to recovery. Teething problem with Over Head Equipments (OHE) and the coaches which cropped up following the crucial conversion from Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) have been fixed.

The punctuality of the trains which had dropped down to merely 65% in June has improved and gone up to 75%. The train services were affected often as the Over Head Wires created resistance and broke off disrupting the services. But, the OHE has been replaced with several to other changes made in the motor of the coach which has reduced the number of disruption.

An official from Central Railway said, “We have been undertaking extensive maintenance of the trains as unlike WR all the motors put in a train are to be utilised to make it run. There will be changes made in the BHEL trains as well which caused severe problems earlier.”

Divisional Railway Manager of CR said, “The punctuality of the trains have picked up in the last couple of days. We are also making several other improvements in the suburban sections which is expected to further improve the functioning of the trains.”
