Bureaucratic reshuffle: Former BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi appointed as ACS Marathi Bhasha Department before he leaves for Delhi

In a bureaucratic reshuffle, the Maharashtra government, on Wednesday, appointed former BrihanMumbai Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi, IAS (1985), as additional chief secretary of the Marathi Bhasha Department. Pardeshi, after he was removed as BMC commissioner in May 2020, was posted as additional chief secretary in the Urban Development Department. Thereafter, he had taken up an assignment as the Global Programme Coordinator for Defeat of NCD Partnership (D-1 level) under the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) for 11 months.

A senior bureaucrat told the Free Press Journal, “It is a temporary appointment to join Pardeshi in state following the expiry of his UN assignment. Pardeshi, who retires in December 2021, will join for a day or two only in Marathi Bhasha Department. He is headed to Delhi to join as Member (Administration) in the newly created Capacity Building Commission also known as ‘Mission Karmayogi’ to train civil servants at all levels.

“Pardeshi’s appointment is for three years in the Capacity Building Capacity and, in that case, he may have to take VRS. Alternatively, Pardeshi, may be in service till December 2021 and then continue in post retirement appointment,” said the bureaucrat.

Further, the state government has appointed Ranjit Kumar, IAS (2008) Director (IT) as Joint Secretary to the Chief Secretary Office.

Dr Pankaj Ashiya, IAS (MH:2016) Municipal Commissioner, Bhiwandi-Nijampur Municipal Corporation, Bhiwandi has been posted as CEO, ZP, Jalgaon.

Rahul Gupta, IAS (MH:2017) Assistant Collector and Project Officer, ITDP, Aheri, Gadchiroli has been posted as CEO, ZP, Osmanabad.

Manuj Jindal, IAS (MH:2017) Assistant Collector, Ettapali Sub Division and Project Officer, ITDP, Bhamragad, Gadchiroli has been posted as CEO, ZP, Jalna.

Mitali Sethi, IAS (MH:2017) Assistant Collector and Project Officer, ITDP, Dharni, Amaravati has been posted as CEO, ZP, Chandrapur.
