Mumbai: After a decade-long wait, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) on had March 7 opened up 276 shops for e-auction.
However, lukewarm response compelled the authority to extend the deadline for registration and payment of earnest money deposit (EMD) to May 27, sources said. However, another MHADA official said the reason for pushing the deadline for both 217 lottery houses and for shops further was the model code of conduct coming into force for the 2019 general election.
Now, the registration and payment of EMD for the e-auction process of shops will close at 2 pm on May 31, and the results will be disclosed on June 1. Earlier, the last date was March 30, and the e-auction was scheduled to start at 11am on April 2 and was supposed to end at 5pm on April 5.
Prices of the shops located at Pratiksha Nagar, Sion, Mazgaon, Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Swadeshi Mill Kurla, Mankhurd, Tunga Powai, Gavanpada-Mulund, Majaswadi Jogeshwari, Shastri Nagar, Siddhartha Nagar, and Charkop Sector 1, range between Rs 21 lakh and Rs 1 crore. To participate in the auction, the bidder has to deposit 10 per cent of the shop value as EMD in MHADA’s selected bank. For instance, if the shop is valued at Rs 40 lakh, the bidder has to deposit Rs 4 lakh in the bank.
Similarly, the deadline for the 217 houses, which will be sold out in a lottery scheme, has been extended to May 25 for registration and payment of EMD. The earlier deadline was April 13. According to the latest dates, the draw of lottery for the houses will happen on June 2.
